Robert Downey Jr 'Iron Man' star delivers real bionic arm to seven-year-old boy - watch

The 3D-printed bionic arm was designed by Albert Manero, senior director of an organisation called Limbitless Solutions, who accompanied the Iron Man actor as he delivered the bionic arm to seven-year-old Alex.

Robert Downey Jr has hand-delivered a real bionic arm to a boy born with a partially-developed left arm.
The 3D-printed bionic arm was designed by Albert Manero, senior director of an organisation called Limbitless Solutions, who accompanied the Iron Man actor as he delivered the bionic arm to seven-year-old Alex.

A video of their touching meeting, in which Alex correctly identifies Downey Jr as "Iron Man" and then "Robert" before the pair try on their respective bionic arms, was uploaded to YouTube yesterday (March 12) and has already been viewed over 2.5 million times.

"Had the absolute privilege of presenting a brand spanking new 3D-printed bionic Iron Man arm to Alex, the most dapper 7-year-old I've ever met," Downey Jr wrote on Facebook yesterday (March 12) as he shared the video.

Limbitless Solutions is a volunteer-driven organisation, based in Orlando, Florida, that develops and manufactures 3D-printed bionic arms and donates them to needy children. More information is available on the organisation's website.
