Why not? Hilary Duff is returning to the music industry after a seven year hiatus.
The actress and businesswoman, 26, is set to release an album in the coming months, her new record label RCA announced on Wednesday, July 23. She will introduce the project with a new single called "Chasing the Sun," due out on Tuesday, July 29.

"I took a break from music for quite awhile, but it gave me the power to choose my next steps carefully and I'm really proud of the album I've made," Duff said in a release. "'Chasing The Sun' is a light and fun summer song that I hope helps people to feel a little more carefree."
The mother to son Luca, 2, debuted her last studio album of new music, Dignity, in March 2007. The project hit No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold.

Her most successful record to date, 2003's Metamorphosis, reached No. 1 on the albums chart, went multi-platinum, and included the hit singles "Come Clean" and "So Yesterday."
In the years since she hit the airwaves as a pop singer, Duff has been working on her acting career, currently filming the TV Land series Younger with Sutton Foster, which is set to premiere this fall. She has also been raising her son with estranged husband Mike Comrie, and penned a best-selling YA book series.
