Officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, is set to prosecute woman who abused a child.
A 70-year-old woman who specializes in bringing under-aged children to Lagos for the purpose of using them for begging, is in trouble with the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, for allegedly brutalizing and running hot pepper on the private part of one of her 'employees', a 12-year-old boy, whom she accused of stealing money.
According to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Omobolanle Ogunmola, the severe beatings the boy received in the hands of the woman left so many scars on his body and the experience could affect him psychologically for life.
“Our team went to Badagry to rescue the boy who attends Ansar-Ud-Deen Secondary School. The woman is around 70 years while the husband is over 75, so we could not arrest them, but that does not mean we are not going to prosecute them.
We will take custody of the boy and take him to school in one of our transient homes.”
Ogunmola further noted that the state government had declared zero tolerance for child abuse and domestic violence, saying that government would not hesitate to prosecute anyone found to have violated the rights of children in the state.
