Family Affair Couple declared wanted over N1b fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), is on the hunt for a man and his wife, Harry Agbenu Austin, the MD/CEO of Megarice Co-operative Society Nigeria Limited, located at Glass Plaza, Block B1, FCDA Quarters, Kubwa, Abuja, and Mary Agbenu Austin, who is a director with the company.
In a release by the anti-graft agency, the couple have been on the run for a while now owing to complicity in a case of fraud, criminal breach of trust, obtaining by false pretence and issuance of dud cheque to the tune of over one billion naira.
The EFCC said that the couple allegedly used their company, Megarice, in operating a cooperative society which had over 400 members invovled.
The members were made to deposit amounts of money which amounted to over N800 million, with a promise of 10% monthly interest on their investments which never materialized.
In addition to this, the couple obtained a loan of N1 million from a new generation bank purportedly for importation and distribution of rice which they diverted for other purposes and also defaulted in repayment.
The EFCC release, signed by the Head, Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren indicated that Harry is 39 years old, dark in complexion and hails from Ogbadibo local government area of Benue State while Mary, who is 37 years old, is from Chukum local government area of Kaduna State and a Gbagy by tribe.
The couple speak Idoma, Gwari, English and Hausa language fluently and their last known address is No. 96 Road, House 14 Gwarimpa Estate, Abuja.
