Lari Williams Veteran actor is now poor, homeless

Hard times have come upon veteran actor and playwright Lari Williams.

Williams who has starred in over 15 soap operas and featured in several Nollywood movies revealed he is poor and homeless at the moment at the Beautiful Nubia Live Concert which took place at the Eniobanke Art Centre on Sunday, July 26, 2015.

At the event he also performed a bit of his poetry. Williams is a strong pioneer of TV and film in Nigeria. He appeared in the classic Nigerian TV series 'Village Headmaster" which is in the history books as the first Nigerian soap opera. He is the first actor to perform on Zuma Rock, Abuja, and was in one of the early home videos "Witch Doctor of the Living Dead.”

Broke and homeless veterans is a common trend in Nollywood. In July, actor Dejumo Lewis, another 'Village Headmaster' alum spoke about his financial situation and said he is the poorest paid actor in Nigeria. Another veteran actor Ernest Asuzu was seen begging for money in Surulere in May.

Pa Kasumu is one of fortunate veteran actors. After suffering a stroke in 2009 and suffering from a heart related ailment, the actor is now in better health.
