In Borno Troops foil Shetimari suicide bombing attack

The Defence Headquarters on Friday, June 5, said two suicide bombers leading a band of terrorists died as troops repelled the insurgents’ attack on Shetimari, Borno, on Thursday evening.

This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja by Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade.
Olukolade said over 12 rifles and one machine gun were captured from the terrorists’ as the attack was repelled.
He said the troops also recovered from the group rocket propelled grenades and some bombs.
According to him, troops conducting mop-up operation were still combing the area, while others are pursuing those on the run.
He also said that the troops’ operations in Sambisa and other forest enclaves of the terrorists are continuing with intelligence activities; aerial surveillance and highly coordinated air bombardment backed by ground assaults.
He said the details of the operations will be made known as they progress.
